Square Enix surprised quite a few fans of Chrono Trigger when it suddenly released the RPG on Steam. Originally released in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, Chrono Trigger made its way to PlayStation One, Nintendo 3DS, iOS and Android over the years with the 3DS version garnering much of the critical acclaim.
Unfortunately, the version on Steam is the mobile port which hasn’t been optimized very well (especially in terms of looks and controls). The game currently sits at a “Mostly Negative” rating and Square Enix has taken note. It released a statement, noting that it was aware of the issues being raised and that it was currently assessing the same.
“We wanted to let you know that we are reading and listening to your messages and are aware of all of the issues that you’ve raised, which we are currently assessing. Please keep an eye on the Steam page for further information. Thanks for your patience and support.”
For those curious, this release includes the Dimensional Vortex and Lost Sanctum dungeons that released with the Nintendo 3DS version. It also saves automatically when you’re traveling across the map, reducing the need for a save point. As for when the game will get fixed, we’ll have to wait for more updates from Square Enix.
